If you're like us, you're ready for The Future of Digital Entertainment[TM] and want to get rid of all that silly, antiquated physical media still laying around the house. We're using some for coasters (something's gotta hold our Zima!), some for Halloween treats later this month, and some for Swag Saturday giveaways. We're hoping that you're not like us and are instead hungrily searching for your chance to win a copy of both Dissidia Final Fantasy and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (on UMD, of course). Leave a comment below letting us what you're going to do with your physical media when the future is upon us and there's no turning back. We'll choose one winner at random after the comments are closed 24 hours from now. See you in the future!
- Leave a comment letting us what you're going to do with your physical media when the future is upon us and there's no turning back.
- You must be 18 years or older and a resident of the US or Canada (excluding Quebec, presumably based on the longstanding feud between the Hatfield's and the McCoy's)
- Limit 1 entry per person per day
- This entry period ends at 7:01PM ET on Sunday, October 11
- At that time, we'll randomly select one winner to receive Dissidia Final Fantasy ($40 ARV) and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII ($20 ARV)

Remember that scene in 300 where that guy is giving that other guy lip, and that guy's all like "No sir!" and he kicks him into that big pit? And then the music's all like "DUHN DUHN DUHN, DUHN DAAH?" What about that scene in the latest episode of Californication where that girl is giving David Duchnovny lip, and Duchovny's all like "No sir!" and he kicks her into that big pit? And then the music's all like "DUHN DUHN DUHN, DUHN DAAH?"
We'll be experiencing similar situations in a video game context soon, as Tyler Bates, the composer for both of those projects (as well as Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead and The Day The Earth Stood Still), will be providing musical accompanyment for Army of Two: The 40th Day. Check out the above video to get a sampling of his mood-altering rock, which carries a surprising amount of intensity, even when divorced from acts of brutal pit-kicking. 300 and Watchmen composer Tyler Bates scoring The 40th Day originally appeared on Joystiq on Sat, 10 Oct 2009 17:30:00 EST. We can only imagine the meeting at Vicarious Visions where the development team behind Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2's DLC was arranged. "Well, we've already got Spider-Man and Venom, but we really feel like the game's still lacking in the Spider-Man spinoff department -- what about that other Spider-Man guy?" And thus, Carnage enters the fray as the game's first downloadable character. Known for his stint in the super-violent Spider-Man mini-series "Maximum Carnage" and, um, that SNES game we played so long ago, Carnage will assuredly lend an over-the-top je ne sais quoi to MUA2's proceedings. We're not exactly sure what happens when you pair him with Spider-Man and Venom on screen, but we worry they might get eaten by Carnage, which could be really awkward.

You know what you really need? Like, really, really need, and you don't even know it? One of our kidneys. That's what we're putting on the table on the off chance that you're the winner of Naughty Dog's latest contest -- the prize for which is one of the limited, sexy, leather-bound, dagger-infested copies of Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition. All you have to do to be eligible is play in the Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta this weekend, and you'll automatically be entered. They're handing out 10 copies of the special edition every day until the game's released, meaning our chances of receiving one are slim. Hence, we offer one of our kidneys as an exchange to any potential winner under the sound of our voice. They're fresh, they regulate the balance of our electrolytes superbly, and, best of all, they're ours! Don't you want to put a bit of Joystiq inside you? The PSP is home to some unexpected shooter revivals. Thexder was just released on PSN, R-Type returned -- as a strategy game! -- and there's even a new Cho Aniki. Compared to those random releases, the announcement of a new Darius isn't too shocking. But it is very welcome. The trailer for Darius Burst seems to hit the highlights of the Darius experience -- namely, spaceships and giant robot versions of aquatic creatures. And it looks hot. Hot enough to send us back through the series in anticipation of the December 24 Japanese release, and for us to send our sincerest wishes to Taito parent company Square Enix. Sell this to us! A recent Visceral Games press release revealed the talent behind the script of Dante's Inferno: Will Rokos, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the screenplay for Monster's Ball. We missed out on that one when it was in theaters, but a quick Wikipedia search taught us that it's a troubling tale of ingrained racial conflict, shattered families, coping with lost loved ones and brief, uncompromising shots of Billy Bob Thornton's testicles. So, yeah. Lots of overlap between that and an action-oriented video game based on a 14th century epic poem.
